Young Collectors Night in Boston
If you live in the Boston area or happen to be in town this Friday night, November 11, I’ll be giving an illustrated talk at the Boston International Fine Art Show at the Cyclorama. Titled “What Every Smart Collector Should Know: Lessons from the Connoisseurs,” the talk covers topics including:
* Determining what kind of collection you want to develop
* Art advisers: the good, the bad and the ugly
* How to learn the specific criteria of quality and value
* Things the auction houses don’t want you to know
* Top mistakes most collectors make
* Taking the intimidation out of galleries and auctions
* The dynamics of collecting as a couple
Cost is $20, which includes the $10 fair admission and a cocktail reception. I’ll be giving the talk twice, at 6 pm and again at 7 pm–after which we will all surely need a cocktail!
