About Missy Sullivan
Missy Sullivan, founder and editor of Art Market Insider, comments regularly about collecting in print, online, on radio and TV. She currently serves as a Senior Editor at SmartMoney magazine, overseeing consumer coverage of everything from travel to wine to collecting. Since 1999, she wrote about collecting for Forbes, most recently as editor of the Forbes Collector newsletter, and as a columnist in ForbesLife magazine.
After graduating with a degree in art history from Pomona College, she did her graduate work at NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts. She then spent nearly a decade at The Brooklyn Museum of Art where, as head of its adult education department, she worked with extraordinary collections from all corners of the globe, from ancient Egyptian art to cutting-edge contemporary. In the early 1990s, she helped found Museums New York magazine and became its first Editor-in-Chief. Over the course of her career, she has enjoyed a thriving freelance life as a producer of educational videos and a writer of books, brochures and museum audiotours, all related to art.
Missy can be seen regularly on Treasure HD, the VOOM network’s hi-definition cable channel devoted to all things collecting. She also speaks often at art fairs and to collector groups on topics ranging from “How to Be a Smart Collector” to “Navigating Newer Art.”
